Blue Room
Built in the heart of the Berkshires in the style of an Elizabeth manor in what has come to
be known as the “Gilded Age” of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when New York’s elite
staged lavish summertime garden parties and dinner dances in their country mansions,
Blantyre today retains the special grandeur of that bygone period while offering its guests all
the amenities of a first class contemporary resort hotel. Now fully winterized, it is open year
round, warm and cozy in the winter months when visitors can enjoy cocktails in the evening
before a roaring fire, and lovely in the spring, summer and, of course, the autumn when the
mountains are ablaze with New England’s Fall color. And the food and service are both excellent.
We recommend three rooms in the main house that overlook Blantyre’s rear lawn and garden:
the Corner Room, the Blue Room and the Paterson Suite. The former two are spacious junior
suites, each with its own wood burning fireplace, and the latter, also known as the “Honeymoon
suite”, is more expensive but worth every penny. Shown below is the Blue Room which has an
unobstructed view of the garden.
