Suite 106
The Bauer Palazzo is a small, elegant
former Venetian palace at the rear of the Bauer Hotel with which
it is affiliated. Located at the mouth of the Grand Canal near
San Marco, the Palazzo offers “old world” charm that
stands in contrast to the more modern appearance of the larger
hotel into which it has been incorporated. We stayed in Suite 106
(sometimes called the “Deneuve Suite” because it’s
said to be where Catherine Deneuve, the French actress, stays when
she is in Venice), a marvelous corner suite that provides fabulous
views through large, lead pane windows that, when opened, make
you feel that you are gliding along the Canal just outside in a
Venetian gondola. The suite is beautifully decorated, just like
rooms in a palace should be; even the ceilings are painted (as
the photo above shows). |
